The Tigers scored six runs in their 6-3 season-opening win against the White Sox, and all of them came on home runs.

Justin Verlander recorded 10 strikeouts, a personal best on any Opening Day in his career.

JaCoby Jones hit his first home run of his career, opening up the scoring for Detroit in the second inning. His three-run shot was followed three batters later by Nick Castellanos hitting a two-run homer. 

Ian Kinsler added a solo shot in the fourth.
