Colin Kaline is coming home.
The grandson of Tigers legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Al Kaline has been hired as the co-head coach of Oakland University's baseball team.
He will lead the team with Jacke Healey, who served as Oakland's interim head coach to close the 2016 season.
Kaline has worked on Florida Southern's staff for the last three seasons. Healey served as Oakland's top assistants for three seasons before last year's promotion.
“Colin and Jacke bring unique skill sets to the table and will mesh well with one another in terms of their joint leadership roles and also will collectively mesh well with this generation of student-athletes,” Oakland athletic director Jeff Konya said.
Kaline played at Birmingham Groves before playing in college at Florida Southern. He was drafted by the Tigers and played two years within the organization.
