ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WXYZ) -- Michigan beat Notre Dame 6-2 Sunday to capture the 18th NCAA regional softball championship in program history.
Sierra Romero opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning, her team-leading 19th of the season. Sierra Lawrence hit a solo homer of her own in the third inning.
Megan Betsa (26-3) struck out nine batters in seven innings pitched.
The Wolverines (49-5) advance to the NCAA Super Regionals, where they will host Missouri in a best-of-three series. The Super Regional winner advances to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
