(WXYZ) -- Western Michigan quarterback Zach Terrell has won the William V. Campbell Trophy, presented to the scholar-athlete of the year in college football.
The award is referred to as the "academic heisman" for being the classroom equivalent of the on-field award.
Terrell graduated last December in three and a half years and currently holds a 4.0 GPA while pursuing an MBA. As part of the award, Terrell will receive a $25,000 post-graduate scholarship.
Each of the other eleven finalists - including Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush - receives an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship.
