The University of Detroit Mercy Titans retired Terry Duerod's jersey Friday night in a ceremony ahead of the big rivalry game between UDM and Oakland.
Duerod played on the 1976-77 Titans team. They won 25 games that season and made it to the Sweet 16. It was one of the most successful teams in the school's history. The jersey retirement event coincided with the 40 year reunion of members of that historic team.
The team was led by legendary coach and broadcaster Dick Vitale, who was in attendance at Friday's ceremony.
