The Detroit Red Wings will play their final two home games at Joe Louis Arena this weekend, and the team has announced many different details for their "Farewell Weekend at the Joe."
With games against the Montreal Canadiens at 7 p.m. on Saturday and the New Jersey Devils at 5 p.m. on Sunday, it is the last chance for fans to see the Winged Wheel on the Joe's ice.
Before Sunday's game, there will be a Chevrolet Season Finale Red Carpet Walk, which will feature current players and more than 50 alumni walking down a red carpet prior the game. Fans can cheer them on from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. near the east entrance along Steve Yzerman Dr.
All parking lots for the event will open at 11 a.m. with doors opening at 3 p.m. for the game.
After the game, the Red Wings will host a "Farewell to the Joe Ceremony" from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the ice at the Joe. It will welcome current players and alumni on the ice. There will also be a Q&A from announcer Ken Daniels and will air on Fox Sports Detroit live.
On top of that, fans attending Sunday's game are encouraged to be in their seats for the National Anthem as a Gigapixel photo will be taken prior to puck drop. Then, they can visit the team's website, zoom in and find themselves to commemorate the game.
Fans in attendance will also receive a "Farewell to the Joe" ministick, which they can raise in the air while Red Wings players raise their sticks in the air saluting the fans and the Joe. It will be in an arena-wide photo for the historic day.
