Detroit Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez has been named the American League Player of the Week, the MLB announced on Monday.

Martinez hit .389 last week with four home runs, nine RBIs, seven runs scored and 10 walks over a 6-game period.

It is his third AL Player of the Week honor.

For the week, he finished first in on-base percentage and slugging percentage, tied for first in walks and tied for second in home runs and RBIs.

It is the first Tigers' weekly honor since Miguel Cabrera was given AL Player of the Week on Oct. 2 of last season.
