Detroit Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez is expected to be out at least a month after fracturing his elbow during Thursday night's game against the Kansas City Royals.

According to Jason Beck from MLB.com, Martinez will be out 4-6 weeks. The team placed him on the 15-day disabled list on Friday.

With Martinez on the disabled list, the Tigers have brought up outfielder Steven Moya from Triple-A Toledo.

The injury happened in the second inning of Thursday's game, when Martinez was chasing a fly ball. When he couldn't find it, he reached out to brace himself when he hit the wall.

X-rays on Thursday showed what the team said was a non-displaced fracture of the radial neck at the right elbow.

Martinez has appeared in all but one game this season, and is batting .286 with 12 home runs and 39 RBIs.

In 50 games with Toledo, Moya is batting .298 with 13 home runs, 38 RBIs and 34 runs.
