The Detroit Tigers have released struggling closer Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez just one day after giving up a grand slam to the Seattle Mariners.
With the move, the Tigers have brought up Bruce Rondon from AAA Toledo Mud Hens
Rodriguez started the season as the Tigers closer but was demoted after many bad outings.
This year, he has pitched 25.1 innings, giving up 31 hits, 23 runs and 22 earned runs.
He has also given up nine home runs after giving up just six home runs in 58.1 innings last season.
The 35-year-old was in the final year of his contract with the Tigers.
