DeAndre Levy's career with the Lions is over.
Today, he opened up about having surgery to an injury he says should have prevented him from returning to football last season.
"Turns out there was a little more damage than I was being told and there's no way I should've been back on the field last year," Levy told ESPN in an email.
Levy told Free Press reporter and 7 Sports Cave contributor Dave Birkett he had surgery a few days ago.

Levy injured his knee during the Lions Week 1 game last season, and returned to game action in Week 14. In 2015, he played one half of football in Week 5.
The Lions released him last month.
