Anquan Boldin 'didn't skip a beat' joining Lions offense

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) -- There's already some competition at Lions training camp among the wide receivers, including newly-signed Anquan Boldin.

Boldin has a certain familiarity with the Lions through head coach Jim Caldwell. Boldin played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2012 when Caldwell was promoted to offensive coordinator.

According to Caldwell, that familiarity, along with Boldin's 'get to work' mentality, has allowed him to hit the ground running in Detroit.

"For a guy to be able to jump right in and not really miss a beat, he was able to keep up with some of the difficult audibles, so I think it's admirable," said Caldwell. "But a guy that's been in a number of different systems, you find pros adapt very quickly."

For Boldin, it wasn't just the familiarity with Caldwell that attracted him to Detroit.

"I like the direction I feel like this team is headed," said Boldin. "Good young talent, guys that are hungry. Just watching the last eight games of the season last year, that this team would be in a position to compete this year."
