Report: Price agrees to $217M deal with Red Sox

Posted

According to the Boston Globe, former Tigers pitcher David Price has agreed to a seven-year deal worth $217 million with the Boston Red Sox.

The average salary would be $31 million, making Price the highest-paid pitcher in baseball history.

Price, who was traded from the Tigers to the Blue Jays at the trade deadline for prospects, became a free agent after the 2015 season.

The Tigers signed starting pitcher Jordan Zimmerman on Monday, stating he was their top prize on the offseason free agent list.

Former Tigers General Manager Dave Dombrowski is now running the Red Sox. He acquired Price at the trade deadline in 2014.
