Jeff Blashill couldn't turn his eyes away from the TV.
He spent Friday soaking in one Gordie Howe memory after another.
"I listened to a lot of the broadcast so far," Blashill said as he joined Action News live on Friday evening.
"The one thing that strikes me is Gordie Howe represents everything a Red Wing is about."
Howe visited the Red Wings twice this past season, Blashill's first as the team's head coach.
"Even as age was starting to get the best of him, the presence Gordie Howe had when he walked into the room was amazing. It really was. The players and staff, all of us were in awe."
