DETROIT (WXYZ) -- The Red Wings announced Friday that they have hired NHL veteran Shawn Horcoff as Director of Player Development.
In a corresponding move, Detroit is reassigning Jiri Fischer to a new role in player development.
Horcoff spent the majority of his NHL career with the Edmonton Oilers, before playing two seasons in Dallas and finishing out 2015-16 with Anaheim.
Horcoff played college hockey at Michigan State, helping the Spartans win two CCHA championships during his time in East Lansing.
