DETROIT (WXYZ) -- The Minnesota Wild claimed forward Teemu Pulkkinen off waivers from Detroit on Tuesday.
Pulkkinen played 70 games for the Red Wings over the past three seasons while splitting his time with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. During his time in Detroit, Pulkkinen tallied 20 points (11 goals, 9 assists) with an overall plus/minus rating of seven.
In other moves Tuesday, the Red Wings assigned forward Anthony Mantha to Grand Rapids and placed defenseman Niklas Kronwall on injured reserve.
Kronwall was originally scheduled to play for Team Sweden in the World Cup of Hockey, but opted not to play in the tournament due to a lingering knee injury.
Detroit opens regular season play Thursday at Tampa Bay.
