DETROIT (WXYZ) -- The Red Wings traded defenseman Jakub Kindl to the Florida Panthers Saturday in exchange for a 2017 sixth-round draft pick.
The Red Wings had previously assigned Kindl to Grand Rapids on Tuesday upon activating Niklas Kronwall from injured reserve.
Kindl played a total of 273 NHL games with Detroit, tallying 68 points (16 goals, 52 assists.) Additionally, Kindl logged 94 points (17 goals, 77 assists) in 139 AHL games with the Griffins.
The NHL trade deadline is 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 29.
