Jim Harbaugh rarely compares his team to the past.

Monday night, speaking to reporters for the first time since training camp opened, Michigan's head coach praised his quarterbacks.

"This group of quarterbacks is playing really well," he said. "Better than most camps that I've seen at the start."

Harbaugh mentioned John O'Korn, Wilton Speight, and Shane Morris by name.

"Quarterbacks... sometimes they struggle. We haven't been seeing that," he added.

Last season, Jake Rudock won the job early in camp, but Harbaugh didn't reveal that until the Wolverines offense took the field in the season opener.

The second year under Harbaugh's offense has produced a better competition for the quarterbacks this season.

"You hate to compare, but we're better. We're playing better at that position than we were eight, nine days into camp last year."
