The injury bug strikes again for the Detroit Red Wings as forward Justin Abdelkader is out 2-4 weeks with a knee injury, according to multiple reports.
General Manager Ken Holland told reporters on Friday that Abdelkader suffered a sprained MCL during Thursday's loss to the Florida Panthers.
He joins a growing list of Red Wings who have suffered injuries over the past few weeks, and the Red Wings are now down four forwards. Tyler Bertuzzi has a high ankle sprain, Andreas Athanasiou is still recovering from a sprained knee and Darren Helm dislocated his shoulder on Saturday.
Goaltender Jimmy Howard is also out for another week with a groin injury, while defenseman Alexey Marchenko has an injured AC joint and defenseman Brendan Smith has an MCL sprain, according to the Detroit Free Press.
