Detroit Lions cornerback Rashean Mathis has announced his retirement from the NFL.
In an interview with Tori Petry on the team's website, Mathis said he is hanging up the cleats after "a long 13 years."
He was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 14, 2015 after suffering a concussion in the week seven game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Mathis spent three seasons with the Lions and started 36 games. He had two interceptions, one touchdown and 117 tackles.
"I've been teetering the fence the last three years," Mathis told Petry. "I wanted to finish healthy, I wanted to finish on a good note."
