EAST LANSING, Mich. (WXYZ) -- Powers North Central's 81-game win streak appeared to be in jeopardy late in double overtime Thursday night.
Southfield Christian's Brock Washington had given his team an 83-82 lead on a three-pointer with less than ten seconds remaining.
But on the ensuing possession, Harlond Beverly found Seth Polfus on the baseline, who faked out a pair of defenders and got the layup to fall just ahead of the buzzer, giving the Jets an 84-83 win in the Class D semifinals at the Breslin Center.
After the game, the MHSAA posted on Twitter that the game was "one of the best we've ever watched."
We have been doing this a long, long time. And that, by all standards, was one of the best basketball games we've ever watched.
