After 41 years, Tom Mach is stepping away from the Novi Detroit Catholic Central sideline.
The legendary head coach turned the Shamrocks into one of the consistent powers in the state of Michigan, and a nationally recognized brand.
Mach amassed a 370-94 record, winning 10 state championships.
"We will miss him and will continue to be inspired by his loyalty, commitment, and fidelity to our common values. Indeed, his shoes will be difficult to fill," CC school president Fr. John Huber said in a statement.
"We will be very careful and diligent in our search for a new coach. We thank Tom and his wife Lynn for all that they have done for Detroit Catholic Central, and wish them many happy years ahead."
Mach is one of the biggest reasons Catholic Central and Brother Rice became one of the most competitive, historically excellent rivalries in high school football.
His 370 victories are third in MHSAA history, behind Brother Rice's Al Fracassa, who won 430 games, and Farmington Hills Harrison's John Herrington, who has 425 wins and counting.
