MSU's Dantonio helps St. Clair county Boy Scouts

Posted

Mark Dantonio is a man of few words, but when he talks, people listen.

On Thursday, Michigan State's head coach served as the keynote speaker at the Boy Scouts of America's fundraising luncheon for St. Clair County.

When he signed on to be the main attraction at the event, organizers immediately had to work to fit an overflowing crowd into Alexander's Premiere Banquet Facility.

Dantonio helped boost a record crowd for the 12th Annual Support A Scout event.

"It was an opportunity to go out in the community in the state of Michigan," Dantonio told Action News. "I've had relatives involved with the Boy Scouts, and I think it's a great organization."

The record crowd donated over $80,000 to the troops in St. Clair and Sanilac counties.

I don't usually give up my microphone, but with the selected Cub Scout Group #169 on hand to meet MSU's head coach, I decided to let them play reporter for the day.

And they were fantastic.
