After Michigan State's 32-23 loss to Michigan, Justin Rose sat down one-on-one for his weekly interview with MSU Head Coach Mark Dantonio to get his thoughts.
Though MSU lost, many people said it was the best they had seen the Spartans play all year. Dantonio on the other hand, disagreed.
"No. Too many missed opportunities, I don't think you get moral victories, that's my opinion," he said. "Too many things that were occurring from a coach's perspective that needs to be fixed."
The loss on Saturday was the first to Michigan since 2012, and only the second since 2007.
"It's been a while since I've sat in here and had to deal with a loss to Michigan, but what's even more difficult is sort of where we're at," he added. "It adds to the heap, so we just have to keep working, stay positive and keep pressing."
The Spartans will look for a win against Illinois on Saturday, a win which they need to stay bowl eligible.
"Winning is the ingredient that you need to solve problems, and winning goes a long way, so there's no question we have to do what we have to do, but we better come ready," Dantonio said. "We better understand that just because you play well in this past game, by other people's standards, doesn't mean that you played well enough to win. So that's something we need to understand collectively and get ready to go, and that's what we're going to do."
