The Wolverine basketball program continues to celebrate.

Not only are they in the Sweet 16 this season, but one of their recruits for next season is already making headlines.

Kalamazoo Christian senior forward Isaiah Livers was named 2017 Mr. Basketball for the state of Michigan.

At a towering and still growing 6-8, 220 pounds, Livers is hoping to cap off his progress with a state championship this week.

Livers ousted MSU commit, Grand Rapids Christian's Xavier Tillman by just 72 overall votes, as Tillman garnered 30 more first place votes.

"I have nothing but respect for him (Tillman), he's a great player as well as all the other candidates who will continue to be great players at the next level," Livers said.
