Novi's Robby Heil, water boy with down syndrome, discusses 40-yard touchdown run on Friday

Posted

On Friday night, Novi senior Robby Heil took the field for the first time and scored a touchdown on a 40-yard run. It was an emotional moment made special for so many reasons and caught on camera.

Heil has been the hydration manager at Novi, and also suffers from down syndrome. His mother, Linda, is also terminally ill with bone cancer.

In the second quarter of the game against South Lyon East, play was suspended as Robby entered the game. Just like they practiced, he got the hand off and saw nothing but green in front of him.

Two days after the emotional moment, Robby and Novi Head Coach Jeff Burnside joined the Suburban Ford 7 Sports Cave to talk about the touchdown.
