The Oakland University Golden Grizzlies clinched the No. 2 seed in the Horizon League Tournament with a 108-97 win over rival Detroit Mercy last night, but for Oakland's Max Hooper, he had another reason to be happy.
Max's father, Chip Hooper, has been battling cancer for four years, and suffered a stroke last year, according to CBS Sports. The Detroit Free PresssaidChip called Max on Friday morning to tell him he would be at the game, coming all the way from California.
After the game, ESPN cameras caught the emotional moment as Max hugged his dad who was watching from the concourse.
