REPORT: Detroit Tigers sign pitcher Mark Lowe

Posted

The Detroit Tigers are continuing to upgrade their bullpen during the offseason, as they have added right-handed relief pitcher Mark Lowe, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The deal is for two years.

Lowe, 32, has spent nine seasons in the MLB and was with the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays last season.

He pitched 55 innings in 2015, giving up 46 hits, 15 runs and 12 walks. He had 61 strikeouts and posted a 1.96 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP.

The Tigers have been very active this offseason signing multiple players. They added starting pitchers Jordan Zimmermann and Mike Pelfrey, closer Francisco Rodriguez, catcher Jared Saltalamacchia and outfielder Cameron Maybin.

According to Heyman, the team might not be done upgrading the outfield either. Heyman said they are also looking at Yoenis Cespedes and Alex Gordon as options in the outfield. Cespedes played with the team last season before being traded to the New York Mets and Gordon played for the Kansas City Royals.
