Friday night's fight will be the ninth 'Night of Knockouts' event held at Sound Board at Motor City Casino, but this fight night is unique.
It features two heavyweights -- Craig Lewis and Demetrius Banks -- from the same city: Detroit. "There's no home court advantage right here. The city loves him. The city loves me," explained Craig Lewis.
Both Banks and Lewis are undefeated. Both of them feel like they're at the top of their game.
"Right now I would say this is the most intense my camp has been. Non-stop training and two-a-days," said Lewis.
"I got a full tool kit and I'm ready for any job," said Banks.
Banks and Lewis both grew up in the Motor City. They came up in the sport of boxing together, so it's inevitable that they share a history.
"We’ve trained together, we’ve gone to tournaments together," said Lewis.
Though most of their history together has been rather positive, these two are still competitors. "There is some bad blood but not anything you would call in the streets. It’s all in the gym. it’s all in the ring," explained Lewis.
"At the end of the day both of our livelihoods are at stake," added Banks.
Banks and Lewis both sound confident about Friday night's bout, but their confidence is expressed in slightly different ways. This was evident when they were asked how they think Friday's fight will go.
"I don’t really do too much predictions. I do visualize things and see things to come, but I kind of keep that to myself," said Banks.
"Like always, every time I eave the ring, both my hands are up…that’s what’s going to happen," said Lewis.
The bouts begins at 7:30pm. Lewis and Banks will face each other in bout 9. For more information visit the Sound Board website.
