Young baseball fan raising money for charity with 30 ballpark tour

Adam Koss is not your average baseball fan. He's on a mission to see every Major League Baseball stadium in America and Canada and he's using the cross country tour to raise money for charity.

Koss is 12 years old, and his Bar Mitzvah is coming up. Part of that tradition is to give back to the community, so Koss came up with this ballpark tour for charity. With some help from mom and dad, Koss -- who lives in Jamesville, New York -- was able to plan a trip to visit all 30 MLB parks.

Wednesday night's stop at Comerica Park to watch the Tigers play the Royals is stadium number six.

"The fans so far have been crazy," said Koss. "It's been great so far."

Koss' parents -- Andi and Lawrence Koss -- said they were blown away when Adam brought them the idea.

"You know he's becoming a Bar Mitzvah and that's a big part of that journey and that transition to becoming a more mature kid," said Andi Koss.

Lawrence Koss said his initial reaction to Adam's proposal was simply "Wow!"

Koss is raising money for Saint Baldrick's Foundation (pediatric cancer research), Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Make-A-Wish Foundation. He said the response so far has been amazing.

"So far I think we've raised $11,500. Koss' said his original goal was about $2,000. "I wasn't expecting a lot of what's happened, so it's been great."
