Tropical Storm Ian has formed in the open Atlantic.
It is the ninth tropical storm of the season.
The storm, with 40 mph winds, is currently 1140 miles southeast of Bermuda and moving northwest at 13 mph.

Some slight strengthening is possible beginning Tuesday night, according to the National Hurricane Canter.
Ian is not expected to pose a threat to the United States.
