This morning, the M-5 ramps near the I-275/I-96/I-696 interchange closed for construction work, and will remain closed until mid-October.
At 12:01 a.m. Monday, the northbound M-5 ramp to 12 Mile shut down.
Then, at 10 a.m., the westbound I-696 ramp to M-5, westbound M-5 ramp to northbound M-5 and northbound I-275 ramp to north M-5 will all close.
To get around it, take westbound I-96 to Beck Rd., to eastbound I-96 to northbound M-5.
The only available northbound M-5 ramp is the east I-96 to north M-59. MDOT says to expect big delays and plan extra travel time.
