Metro Detroit traffic: Updates on construction, closures for your morning commute

Before you head out of the door for your morning commute, here are some traffic updates to keep on the radar:

1) COUTNDOWN TO CLOSURE - M-5 southbound lanes closed in just one day!  All southbound M-5 lanes will close from Maple to 12 Mile beginning Saturday. The closure will last 3-4 weeks while crews repair 3 miles of pavement. Take Haggerty or Drake south and plan to double your drive time.

2) HINE DRIVE CLOSED - Hines Drive Ann Arbor Trail to Outer Drive is closed due to flooding

3) GAS PRICES UP - Gas prices in Michigan are above the national average with the average price at $2.55 a gallon. The U.S. average is $2.43.

4) US-23 CLOSURES - Closures along U.S. 23 will slow traffic between Brighton and Ann Arbor, as the Michigan Department of Transportation continues $120 million in road, ramp and bridge work in Livingston and Washtenaw counties.

Bridgework at Joy Road north of Ann Arbor will shut down single lanes in both directions of U.S. 23 at nighttime tonight until early Saturday morning.

A single lane of northbound U.S. 23 will close each night tonight until early Saturday morning

A single lane of northbound U.S. 23 will close continuously from 9 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Monday, April 24.

A single lane of southbound U.S. 23 will close each night Wednesday night until early Saturday morning.

A single lane of southbound U.S. 23  will close continuously from 8 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Monday, April 24.
