TV20 Detroit host search: Stay tuned!

Hey Detroit... Do you have the swagger, the attitude and the style to be the new host and personality for TV20? Bring it!

WMYD is looking for a new on-air personality to reflect the TV20 brand on all platforms, and be the station’s driving force in all its marketing efforts.

UPDATES:

 

The new host will be part of daily promotional efforts, participate in projects with partners and advertisers, and represent WMYD at station initiatives and events throughout the community.

TV20 Detroit is holding a one-day live audition on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Renaissance Marriott in downtown Detroit. The event will run from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. in the hotel’s Ontario Exhibit Hall on the third floor. (Please note: The room has changed since we first announced the event.)

Participants will audition before a panel of judges and have an opportunity to explain why they believe they are the best candidate for the job.

If we choose you, you'll be the face and the voice of TV20 Detroit, home of shows like Maury, the Jerry Springer Show and Lauren Lake's Paternity Court as well as newscasts from the 7 Action News team.

TV20 Show Host/Personality Search
THE PROMOTION: The TV20 Show Host/Personality Search Promotion (the “Promotion”) is sponsored by Scripps Media, Inc., d/b/a WMYD-TV (“TV20”), and TV20 is looking for a host/personality to represent the TV20 brand on the air, online, and at public events. This individual must have strong camera presence and the ability to engage audiences on television as well as via social media platforms. Please note that although TV20 hopes to select a new host through the Promotion, TV20 reserves the right not to select a host through the Promotion if it determines in its sole discretion that none of the participants meet its criteria.

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible, participants must be 21 years of age or older and legal U.S. residents residing in the 50 United States or DC.  You may not participate in the Promotion if your participation or acceptance of a job with TV20 would violate any union agreement or any employment contract to which you are currently subject. You must be willing to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, and be available for public appearances.

TALENT SEARCH EVENT: On December 9, 2015, TV20 will hold a talent search event (the “Event”) at the Detroit Marriot at the Renaissance Center, 

Ontario Exhibit Hall, 3rd Floor, 400 Renaissance Drive, in Detroit. The Event will include a live audition from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET (the “Audition”). For the Audition, eligible participants will be allowed to do a short presentation, no more than one minute long, in which they will introduce themselves and explain why they should be a host for TV20. In order to participate in the Audition, participants must accurately complete and submit the registration form. Participation in the Audition is on a first-come, first-served basis, and it is possible that not all registrants at the Event will receive an opportunity to Audition. If a registrant is called for the Audition and does not respond immediately, that registrant will lose his or her spot in line and may not be able to participate in the Audition if the Audition is over-subscribed. A judging panel selected by TV20 will select five finalists (the “Finalists”). Judges will determine Finalists based on the following criteria: applicant’s presentation, elocution, demonstrated personality, related work experience and composure. Finalists may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release within 48 hours of the time TV20 provides such document to Finalist. If any potential Finalist: (a) cannot be contacted directly by, or does not respond to, TV20 within 24 hours of initial attempted notification; (b) fails to satisfy any eligibility or verification requirement herein; (c) is unwilling or unable to attend the Finalist Event (defined below); (d) fails to complete and return required documents by the deadline set by TV20; or (e) is otherwise determined to be ineligible, TV20 in its discretion may disqualify that individual, and an alternate Finalist may be chosen by applying the criteria set forth above .
FINALIST EVENT: The Finalist event (“Finalist Event”) will be held between December 16, 2015 and December 18, 2015 at Broadcast House, at 20777 W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield, MI. At the Finalist Event, each Finalist will be asked follow-up questions and may be asked to participate in a screen test. Failure to attend the Finalist Event will result in disqualification. A panel of judges at the Finalist Event will select one Finalist will select the best candidate based on applicant’s presentation, elocution, demonstrated personality, related work experience and composure. PLEASE NOTE, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT A HOST WILL BE SELECTED THROUGH THE PROMOTION. If, in the sole discretion of TV20, the best candidate is a potential host for TV20 (“Potential Host”), then the Potential Host will proceed to the Potential Host confirmation and announcement stage set forth below. If, in the sole discretion of TV20, the best candidate is not a Potential Host, then that individual will receive a $200 gift card to Andiamo restaurants (the “Alternate Award”) but will not be considered for potential employment with TV20. Otherwise, Finalists will receive no compensation for their participation in the Finalist Event.
POTENTIAL HOST CONFIRMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENT: If a Potential Host is selected through the Promotion, the target hire date for the Potential Host will be December 31, 2015 with a target start date of January 4, 2016, pending a pre-employment screening, agreement between TV20 and the Potential Host on the terms of employment. If the Potential Host has not already signed an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release, Potential Host may be required to do so after being named the Potential Host. The Potential Host must have a valid driver’s license and be ready, willing, and able to initiate employment with TV20 on December 31, 2015. The Potential Host may be required to sign an employment agreement with TV20 and will otherwise be subject to (and agrees to cooperate with) all hiring protocols for TV20, which may include a reference check, background check, drug screen, and any other requirements TV20 has for potential employees. The Potential Host will be announced at Family Day at the North American International Auto Show at Cobo Center in Detroit on January 22, 2016 and will also be required to participate in that event. If Potential Host does not meet or fulfill any of the foregoing requirements, otherwise fails to meet the TV20 hiring criteria, or for any other reason is deemed not eligible for a position as a host, as determined in the sole discretion of TV20, Potential Host will not be eligible to act as a TV20 host and will receive the Alternate Award.
RECORDING OF EVENT AND FINALIST EVENT: Each participant and Finalist understands and agrees that the participant and/or Finalist’s performance at the Event and/or Finalist Event may be recorded by TV20 (the “Recording”). Accordingly, each participant and Finalist irrevocably consents to and authorizes the recording, use, and reproduction by TV20 and its licensees of the participant and/or Finalist’s contribution to the Recording, whether in the form of still or moving images, whether digital, videotape, or photographs for any and all internal and external editorial, marketing, advertising, recruitment, or other business use by TV20 and its licensees, and in all media worldwide, now known or hereinafter developed, without compensation to the participant and/or Finalist or any right of approval or review by the participant and/or Finalist. TV20 will be the sole owner of the Recording, and each participant and Finalist hereby assigns all right, title, and interest such participant and Finalist may have in and to the Recording and his/her contribution to the Recording to TV20 and waives any and all moral rights that he/she may have in the Recording, including the right to attribution.
CONDITIONS: By participating in the Promotion, all participants acknowledge compliance with and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and the decisions of TV20 and/or judges, which are final in all respects. All registration forms become the property of TV20. No correspondence will be entered into other than the communications outlined herein. TV20 is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, or misdirected registration forms, which will be disqualified. Persons found tampering (or attempting to tamper) with or abusing any aspect of the Promotion, or whom TV20 believes to be causing malfunction, error, disruption or damage will be disqualified. Participants and Finalists are also expected to behave in a manner appropriate for broadcast television in their Audition and at the Finalist Event. Failure to do so, as determined in the sole discretion of TV20 and/or the judges, will result in disqualification. TV20’s failure or delay in enforcing any of these Terms and Conditions will not be a waiver of that term. The Promotion is void where prohibited.
LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: By participating in this Promotion, participants hereby waive and release and agree to hold harmless, TV20 and any of its parents, subsidiaries, media partners, printers, advertising and promotion agencies, and any other person or entity involved in the creation or administration of the Promotion and all of their respective parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, officers, directors, employees, and agents (“Released Parties”) from and against, any and all rights, claims and causes of action whatsoever that they may have, or that may arise, against any of them for any liability for any matter, cause or thing whatsoever, including but not limited to any injury, loss, damage, whether direct, compensatory, incidental or consequential, to person, including death, and/or property, arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from their participation in this Promotion, or any promotional activity for TV20. By participating in the Promotion, participants (except where prohibited by law) consent to use, copy, transmit, publish or otherwise distribute , incorporate into other works or display the participant’s name, likeness or biographical information in advertising, promotional or marketing materials without notice or compensation.
IN NO EVENT WILL RELEASED PARTIES BE LIABLE TO PARTICIPANTS FOR ANY DIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOSS OF USE, DATA, BUSINESS OR PROFITS) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH PARTICIPANTS’ PARTICIPATION IN THIS PROGRAM, WHETHER SUCH LIABILITY ARISES FROM ANY CLAIM BASED UPON CONTRACT, WARRANTY, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE, AND WHETHER OR NOT RELFEASED PARTIES HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH LOSS OR DAMAGE.
GOVERNING LAW/JURISDICTION: ALL ISSUES AND QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE CONSTRUCTION, VALIDITY, INTERPRETATION AND ENFORCEABILITY OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OR THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF PARTICIPANTS OR TV20 IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROGRAM WILL BE GOVERNED BY AND CONSTRUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE INTERNAL LAWS OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN WITHOUT GIVING EFFECT TO ANY CHOICE OF LAW OF CONFLICT OF LAW RULES OR PROVISIONS THAT WOULD CAUSE THE APPLICATION OF ANY OTHER STATE’S LAWS.
DISPUTES: As a condition of participating, participants agree (a) under no circumstances will participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and participant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses; (b) all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion must be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court in Wayne County, Michigan, to which participant submits to personal jurisdiction; and (c) any and all claims, judgments, and award will be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, excluding attorneys’ fees and court costs. If there is a discrepancy or inconsistency between disclosures and other statements contained in any Promotion materials and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions will prevail, govern and control.
