Feds take down Detroit's Band Crew gang

The feds have scored a major bust, bringing down a violent street gang in Detroit that bragged about their crimes on social media.

Federal agents and police say the street gang they've arrested and charged used to terrorize gas stations, creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation in the neighborhood.

YouTube videos are one of many social media items allegedly posted by members of the Detroit street gang known as "Band Crew".

In the clips they brag about their illegal activities that investigators say include attempted murder, shootings and robberies.

Feds say 8 young men have now been charged with various violent crimes that threatened countless lives.

According to police, members of the band crew were also affiliated with smaller neighborhood gangs who spent years claiming territory along 7 Mile - even tagging buildings with graffiti.

The 8 guys charged are believed to have played a major role in a criminal enterprise and some used stolen guns to carry out numerous shootings.

They're facing lengthy sentences behind bars.

All 8 of the suspects are in custody and will remain locked up till their next court appearance.
