OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — The continuation of the Modernize I-75 project will close both directions of the I-75 for 14 miles between I-696 and Square Lake Road this weekend.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, the closure will begin at 10 p.m. on Friday, May 10 and be back open by 5 a.m. on Monday, May 13.
Crews are closing the highway to demolish the Wattles Rd. vehicle and pedestrian structures, and the Corporate Drive bridge over the highway. They will also make pavement repairs within the work zone.
Those who normally take I-75 will follow the posted detour by using Woodward Ave. Local road traffic detours will be posted for the Wattles Rd. and Corporate Drive overpasses.
This is the continuation of the $224 million project that involves reconstructing eight miles of pavement from Coolidge Highway and 13 Mile Rd., that includes improving 18 structures, upgrading drainage, adding noise walls and much more.
