A 17-year-old girl from metro Detroit was sentenced to 10-20 years in prison today for plotting to kill her family.

Roksana Sikorski pleaded guilty in February to one count of assault with intent to murder for slicing her younger brother's throat in October of 2014 at their Plymouth Township home.

He survived the attack and no one else was hurt, but prosecutors say she planned to kill all four members of her adopted family.

Her mother gave a statement in court today and said she was influenced by her older boyfriend at the time.

The boyfriend was also charged in the case.

Sikorski apologized before her sentencing.

"I would like to apologize to my family for not being the daughter they wished I would be," said Sikorski.
