(WXYZ) — A Canton father has been arraigned on charges related to the shooting death of his 8-year-old son.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says 33-year-old Nicholas A. Bennett has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter.
According to the prosecutor's office, Bennett was working on his rifle on Dec. 15 when he allegedly shot his son who was in the same room at a home in the 41020 block of Old Michigan Avenue.
The child was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Bennett's probable cause conference is scheduled for Jan. 29 at 10:50 a.m. and his preliminary examination is scheduled for Feb. 5 at 11:30 a.m.
