DETROIT (WXYZ) — The birthing and pediatrics team at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit raised thousands of dollars to help support their coworkers fighting COVID-19.
Amanda Jean posted on Facebook that the Birthing Center and Peds units – with the help of friends and family – to raise more than $12,000 for the staff on the COVID floors.
"The hope is that our support will keep them strong amidst this storm," she posted.
They were able to donate food and goodie bags to their coworkers.
The bags included:
Life Saver – "For all those times that you were one"
Starburst – "For that burst of energy you just might need"
Payday – "Because we know you don't do it for the money"
Gum – "We all need to stick together
Kit Kat – "You deserve a break"
Peppermint Patty – "To help you keep your cool"
Snickers – "For the sense of humor you must have"
Mounds – "For the amount of courage it takes to do your job"
Kisses – "Because we love you"
Tootsie Rolls – "For the importance roll you play in our communities"
