DETROIT (WXYZ) — The 36th District Court in Wayne County is extending its moratorium on evictions through May 15.
The moratorium was put in place on March 13, and has now been extended in accordance with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's Executive Order 2020-54, which was put into effect April 17.
According to the executive order, the “extension includes a new provision prohibiting any demand for the payment of rent that includes a demand for possession, or other threat of eviction, based on the nonpayment of rent.”
