FCA reports nearly 90% of North American hourly employees are back at work

(WXYZ) — Almost 90 percent of FCA's North American hourly plant workers are back on the job this week, according to the automaker.

In a schedule breakdown, FCA says 48,145 of 54,940 full-time hourly employees, or 88 percent, have returned to work in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Separately, 28, 310 of 33,350 workers, or 85 percent, in the United States have re-entered FCA plants. In Mexico, 12,050 of 13,700, or 88 percent, have returned; and Canada – with the fewest number of workers – had the highest percentage of people returning to FCA at 99 percent, or 7,785 of 7,890 workers.

Autoworkers began staggering shifts back into plants in mid-May amid the coronavirus pandemic.
