(WXYZ) — The Oakland County Health Division is reporting the first death from the coronavirus in that county.
This was the fourth death in the state, following two in Detroit and one in Wayne County.
The victim is a 50-year-old man from Oakland County with underlying health issues.
As of Friday, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has reported 787 cases of COVID-19 in the state and 229 in Oakland County, as of Saturday.
On Saturday, officials also reported the youngest COVID-19 patient in Oakland County is 7 months old and the oldest is 92.
"This is a tragic loss and we share our heartfelt condolences with the family," Oakland County Executive David Coulter said in a news release. "This is also an important reminder of the seriousness of this virus and the importance of personal and community-wide efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus."
