(WXYZ) — Ford has shipped one million face shields across the country as part of the fight against COVID-19.
The one millionth face shield shipment was delivered to New York City. More than 190,000 face shields have been shipped and delivered to New York and New Jersey.
In cooperation with 120 UAW workers, Ford says it is producing one face shield every 10 seconds. A total of 750,000 shields will be shipped per week around the country to frontline workers in need of additional protection.
The face shields fully block the face and eyes from accidental contact with liquids. When paired with N95 respirators, they can be a more effective way to limit potential exposure to COVID-19.
