(WXYZ) — The Michigan National Guard' 46th Military Police Command, based in Lansing, has been called to help as part of the national COVID-19 emergency.
FEMA requested the support of the 46th MP command to help provide medical, planning, communication, transportation and logistics support.

The National Guard members will not participate in civilian law enforcement activities.
The guard members will be aiding a majority of the middle third of the U.S., which includes Fema regions five, six and seven. States in those regions include Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

“The 46th MP Command is a great organization,” said Maj. Gen. Paul Rogers, adjutant general of the Michigan National Guard. “This is an opportunity for the men and women of the Michigan National Guard to show what Michigan brings to the table in times of homeland emergencies.”
In all, about 160 men and women will serve as part of the response. That's in addition to the around 140 Michigan National Guard members already supporting the State of Michigan's response.
More then 8,500 other National Guardsmen and women are following Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's stay-at-home order to ensure they are healthy and ready if called upon.
