Michigan reports 12 new COVID-19 deaths; cases surpass 54,800

(WXYZ) — Michigan now has 5,240 deaths and 54,881 cases of coronavirus, the state reported Monday.

That's up 202 cases and 12 deaths since Sunday.

Over the last week, the percentage of positive cases has decreased. It's the third-lowest number of cases since March 2020, with the lowest number of cases reported on May 4.

33,168 people have recovered from the virus, the state said. Those numbers are updated every Saturday.
