Officials: U.S.-Canada border is not shut down to medical professionals

(WXYZ) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection is addressing rumors questioning whether medical professionals can still cross the border.

Officials say the border is open and fully operational to essential travel.

Law enforcement agencies throughout the state of Michigan say they are getting calls from concerned travelers that the border is shut down to medical professionals.

Officials say the rumors are false; the border remains open to all essential travel, including medical professionals. Officials say they are vital during these difficult times.
