(WXYZ) — Revenue at the three Detroit casinos is significantly down this year compared to last year amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, the casinos reported $299.2 million in aggregate revenue through April – down 39.2% from the $492.1 million reported for the same four months in 2019.
MGM Grand reported $126.5 million in revenue, down $83.5 million through April; MotorCity Casino had $102.6 million, down $66.1 million and Greektown had $70.1 million, down $43.3 million.
All three have been closed since mid March and didn't report aggregate revenue for April as they were closed through the entire month.
Through April 30, the casinos have paid a total of $24.2 million in gaming taxes to the state, down from $39.8 million in 2019.
