Wayne County Sheriff's Deputy dies from COVID-19

(WXYZ) — A second member of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office has passed away from COVID-19, the county tells 7 Action News.

The deputy, Dean Savard, was a 16-year veteran of the WCSO and worked at the Wayne County Jail, Division 1.

He tested positive for the virus on March 27 and passed away on Friday afternoon.

On March 25, Commander Donafay Collins passed away from the virus. He was a nearly 30-year veteran of the force.
