A metro Detroit man who was exonerated of murder charges is now locked up in Phoenix, Arizona on assault charges.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office records show Davontae Sanford was booked into their jail on March 20.
7 Action News has not received any other details on the circumstances of his arrest.
Sanford was released from prison after 9 years in June of 2016 after it was determined he was wrongly convicted of killing four people at age 14.
A professional hit man later took responsibility for the murders.
The shootings took place in 2007 at a Detroit drug house. According to Davontae Sanford's family, the teen confessed to the crime under police pressure.
Sanford was later award $408,000 from the state of Michigan for his wrongful conviction.
