The Detroit Public Schools Community District will dismiss early Monday due to heat, officials announced.
All DPSCD schools are affected by the dismissal, officials added. All afternoon sports and training will also be cancelled.
"Near record early fall heat will continue through Monday with temperatures possibly ranging up to the mid 90s," the district said in a statement. "The NWS is advising that heat safety precautions should be considered for those participating in outdoor activity."
Several teachers said they emailed the superintendent's office Sunday with concerns about the high temperatures.
