NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP (WXYZ) — Tonight, the family of Dominic Duhn is showing so much courage to talk about their loss, and why they can't begin to heal until an arrest is made.

“He was doing something he loved, and ended up losing his life,” said Dominic's father Drew Duhn.

Loved ones of 20-year-old Dominic Duhn are dealing with devastating loss after a hit and run driver took his life just after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.

“He loved snowboarding, skateboarding. In the summer months whenever he could skateboard he would skateboard,” Drew said.

His father says Dominic was riding his skateboard near sheldon and 6 Mile Road when the person responsible struck him and took off. His mother is now recalling her son's amazing spirit and warmth.

“He had just such a big heart. He was always helping others. Anybody that needed help he was just helping anybody,” said Gabriella Duhn, Dominic's mother.

Dominic's brother Enzo tells us he looked up to Dominic as a best friend and mento. As a junior at MSU, Dominic was excelling at agricultural studies and had lots of friends. Now, they and loved ones are pleading for justice.

“I’m one to stop if I hit something. Even an animal in the road. It just doesn’t make any sense to me,” Enzo said. “I just hope they can find a face. I just want some closure. I know it won’t bring him back but closure helps from what I hear.”

A GoFundMe page has been created to raise money for a scholarship in Dominic's memory. You can donate here.

Police say the driver's vehicle is likely to have heavy front-end damage. If you have information on this crime, contact Northville Township police.
